Patching Worlds: Threads of Dissent, Knots of Care

7 weeks workshop series during art residency at mmag foundation in Amman | Spring 2025

This workshop, facilitated during my art residency at mmag foundation in Amman. It offered a reflective examination of the present context and its influence on the ways we navigate contemporary realities. It invited participants to weave their voices into a shared tapestry—through writing, collective reading, performing, or other forms of artistic expression. Each contribution becomes a unique patch, transformed from text to visual form and vice versa, and these fragments intertwine together, creating a collective whole. The journey is one of connection, translation, and unfolding of a unified story.

In the framework of a series of collaborative workshops, and art production, we experimented with material, worked with fabrics, patched narratives, and wove new worlds. All selected works will be published in awhām’s 7th printed issue, and the program ended with a collective unfolding and reading performance.

The workshops took place at mmag over a 7-week period. The Participants produced two quilts conveying ideas, thoughts and questions that were put forward during our weekly reading meet ups. Each of the quilt was combined with its own group written essay.
